Court time for charity

Kalgoorlie Miner – 27 September, 2016
John Paul College students and Kalgoorlie-Boulder police officers battled it out on the basketball court to raise money for the Bright Blue fund.
A team of 12 officers competed against a team of seven Year 12 students and two staff members, with peers donating a gold coin to watch the action.
Despite the police having more substitute players, the JPC team fought hard and finished victorious by eight points.
The game was an initiative of local police and linked with the school’s week-long McAuley celebration in honour of Catherine McAuley and her contribution to Catholic education.

McAuley House co-ordinator Patrick Elliott said a liturgy was held to honour the founder, and a barbecue and bake sale were also held ahead of the basketball game, all in support of Bright Blue.
The basketball game contributed about $100 to the overall $900 raised for Bright Blue throughout the week.
