The Gibb River Ride 2014
Riders and support crew flew into Broome on Saturday 5 July from Perth, making their way via organised Bright Blue transport to Fitzroy Crossing on Sunday 6 July 2014.
Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan joined the group in Fitzroy Crossing to welcome everyone to the event and watch the riders depart at the start of the ride, riding the first day himself to Windjana Gorge.
The group left Fitzroy Crossing on Monday 7 July 2014 and arrived into Kununurra on Saturday 12 July 2014, travelling the Gibb River Road – whilst raising over $150,000 for sick kids in Australia.
Thanks to our major partner Australia Post, this was an adventure with a difference, with riders using Australia Post postie bikes to complete the trip.
The ride took in epic scenery of the Kimberley, whilst negotiating creek crossings, unsealed roads and sleeping under the stars.
The money raised from this event will go directly to our Bright Blue projects which include supporting brain cancer research in Perth and in Sydney.
This really was an amazing opportunity to experience the vastness and awe of wild Australia AND help people less fortunate.
